There are some patterns that fuse together the perfect mix of style and simplicity. These are the ones that you can make over and over again and every time you do you say to yourself "this one is my favorite one ever"... until the next one! The pattern that I am showing you today is one of those patterns.
Originally released in 2017 under the name Aurora Belle, this pattern is now called Kluane. This name comes from one of the far north parks here in Canada, where the aurora borealis, the northern lights, are not an uncommon sight. This is the perfect name for this pattern, which offers multiple skirt lengths which are beautiful in their simplicity and stunning when combined together. The peplum length flares below the hips and is pairs perfectly with jeans or leggings. The mid-length skirt has a fun retro vibe. The maxi length will make any girl feel like a princess.
The bodice is designed with a sweetheart shape and an elastic back for comfort and easy wear. The pattern includes instructions for doing the back with elastic casings or shirring with elastic thread. If you haven't learned how to shirr yet, this pattern is an easy on to learn with, and my post Shirring: Testing and Tension will help you figure out this fabulously fun technique! The halter style is modern and comfortable with an elastic strap instead of ties.
The skirt is designed as a half circle, which means no gathering is needed at the waist, and lots of flow and twirl! And why stop at one skirt when you can combine them to have two, or three together!
As you can now expect with all Pollywoggles patterns, Kluane includes sizes 2-12, the option of rectangular pattern pieces or cutting charts, and a large format A0 file for copy shop printing.
Kluane will be on SALE through until noon EDT on Friday May 10th.
And don't forget to join the Group on Facebook to watch for upcoming release announcements!
All those who already own Aurora Belle have already been sent an email with the update. If you have not gotten it, please check your email spam/junk folder, and if it isn't there then contact me and I will make sure that you get it.
Kluane is one of those patterns that can go from everyday to the most special occasion. My girl has already picked out all the woven cottons in my stash that she wants made into peplums, and has already told me the order in which she plans to wear to church the three dresses I've made for her so far this year. I love having one pattern be my go-to in a style that she loves!
Thank you so much for stopping by my little corner of the digital world. When I'm not designing (or, more likely, attempting to keep up with housework or schooling my three rug rats!) you'll probably find me with my nose in a book, escaping for a few precious moments into a world of fiction or learning with single-minded focus about my latest interest. Here, I'd like to share with you some of the things that I'm currently working on and a bit about all the ways I like to keep my creative juices flowing!
Just for Fun...
