Nahanni is an athletic swimsuit for water sports and summer fun! Includes the option of tankini or bikini top, and mid-thigh jammer or full coverage shortie bottoms with a full gusset and no front or back seam. All options can be made with or without side-panels for fun fabric combinations!
This swimsuit is designed for water sports and all-day play. The snug fit ensures the suit stays in place whether building sandcastles or doing cannon-ball jumps. The jammer bottoms in particular offer a unique bottom style that is comfortable for all types of water sports, and dance/gymnastics too.

Recommended Skill Level - Intermediate - Experience sewing with stretch fabrics is recommended.
Seam allowance is 3/8"(1cm) unless stated otherwise in the pattern, and is included in all measurements.
Required Supplies: sewing machine, stretch needle, 1/4" swim elastic for sizes 2-5, 3/8" swim elastic for sizes 6-12, 3/4" elastic for the waistband and bikini chest band, ballpoint pins or wonder clips, scissors and/or rotary cutter, measuring tape and/or cutting mat & ruler.
Suggested Fabric: Swim knit with minimum 60% stretch (fabric content 18%-20% spandex/Lycra), swim lining.

Behind the Name...The name “Nahanni” is inspired by the National Park Reserve in Canada’s North West Territories. The centerpiece of the park is the South Nahanni River, which attracts adventure seekers like mountain climbers and white water paddlers. Rugged and wild, Nahanni’s unique geology includes the Rabbitkettle Hot Springs… where the water deposits limestone structures so fragile that visitors are required to walk barefoot. The of the park comes from the indigenous Dene language name for the area "Nahʔa Dehé" which means "river of the land of the Nahʔa people". |
