Behind the Name...
Kokanee Glacier Park is one of the oldest provincial parks in British Columbia, Canada. It is ruggedly beautiful backcountry, high in the mountains where rocky slopes and high-altitude plants make a beautiful backdrop for adventure hikers wishing to travel the paths originally used by miners in search of gold and silver. The park protects significant Grizzly Bear habitat, and visitor use is carefully
managed at times and in places where the bears are known to frequent.
